It is my great joy to welcome
all the members and friends to our Centennial anniversary
celebration of Albany United Methodist Church. This
historical event will give us an opportunity to remind
ourselves of what this community of faith has been to all of
us over the many years.
As brothers and sisters in Jesus
Christ, many of us have spent much of our lives together
here—worshipping the Lord, serving the community, teaching
children, and sharing love with one another together.
Certainly, God has been good to us and we give thanks to Him
for all the blessed moments we have enjoyed through this
church. But at the same time, I want this celebration to be
an important historical moment in which we all can look
forward to the years to come. The world needs a church like
us more than ever before. I want this church to be a place
where every man and woman with broken hearts, no matter who
they are, feels welcome and can find a spiritual home in
God’s love. I want us to be a church through which God’s
hope and justice is revealed in this community and beyond.
May God bless us as we dream such a dream. Hallelujah!
